American Farmland Trust San Francisco Foodshed Report
The American Farmland Trust’s San Francisco Foodshed Report focuses on agricultural production, resources and distribution in the Bay Area. Highlighting the challenges to expanding the local food system and the need to reestablish the connection between fork and farm, the report also describes farmers markets, CSAs and local food outlets as the fastest-growing segment of the U.S. food system. Food Forum Reports
The Sonoma County Food System Alliance (SCFSA) is a county-based coalition of diverse stakeholders working to address food system needs through collective action. In 2011, the group held the Sonoma County Food Forum, with panel discussions, presentations, table conversations, and an online survey. The Food Forum Report presents key ideas and suggestions from the wide variety of local food system stakeholders who attended the Forum. Recipe for Sustainability: Food, Health and Community in Napa County’s Food System
Napa shares national problems of obesity, lack of food knowledge, food insecurity, contribution to global climate change and other environmental problems. The Napa Food Report identifies the benefits of bringing together advocates and resources for the food system to assess the local food system and suggest strategies and models for improvement. Small Business Development Center Survey
The Napa Valley College Small Business Development Center, in conjunction with Bianco Ag Services, conducted a detailed survey in 2011, designed to provide an overview of the potential future of Napa Valley’s agriculture, from the perspective of Napa Valley growers, grocers, market managers, chefs and restaurant owners. Survey results indicate the need for an integrated agricultural plan, expansion of economic opportunities, continuing education and development of a grower network.
